Carole Sams

I have a preference for hand embroidery and love to add texture to my pieces with metallic threads, beads, sequins and buttons.

My admiration of the work of Klimt, Van Gogh and Monet had an influence when studying contemporary textiles leading to three dimensional interpretations of their work in Embroidery, silk painting and batik.  Following this I invested time in producing blackwork and freeform embroidery pieces then trying felting and mixed media collages.

Recently I have returned to three dimensional work in the courses I have attended with Ray Slater making dolls, however my passion is for hand embroidery which hopefully will lead to a successful outcome to my City and Guilds.
