Artist's Statement

My work reflects my love of colour, texture and embellishments particularly embroidery.   I draw inspiration from my travels to India, from the rich and vibrant colours, the embroidered textiles, the festivals, the jewellery, the architecture and nature.
I like to experiment with different types of silk and then embellish it with various embroidery techniques, using both hand and machine embroidery, in order to give my work a tactile finish.   Silk is a fascinating and challenging medium, I particularly like the sheen and vibrancy of colours it has as well as the luxurious surface textures which are a significant feature of my work.
